For some reason my iPad wouldn't let me caption all the photos so I will just tell you the rest here!
Heaps of those were at the markets - that's pretty self explanatory!
The coffee with a sandwich is what I got one morning when I woke up early! They made cappuccinos at one cafe I found so I was pretty happy, otherwise lots of filter coffee here. The sandwich is a local speciality - Serrano and Manchego (really strong sheep's cheese).
The photo of tapas is from a bar we found recommended in the lonely planet guide called Taberna El Piyayo. We had the local specialty drink Tinto de Verano and then so much food as you can see. There was a Gazpacho (cold tomato & vegetable soup), fried aubergine with cane homey dipping sauce, battered fresh prawns and squid, olives and bread with aioli! Amazing! And again sooo cheap!
The bottom one is a pork schnitzel I had in a restaurant in Osnabruck (Germany). It was called Schweineschnitzel Lucullus - Pork Schnitzel with Béarnaise sauce, white asparagus, mushrooms and potato croquettes! It was the best schnitty I have ever had!
Yummmooooooooo

Malaga Food!
The amazing Serrano from the markets! It was the best, we just ate it on fresh bread for lunch! Mmmmm :)
Our homemade pasta with aubergine, tomato, zucchini, capsicum and parmesan cheese all purchased at the markets! Also cost us less than 8 euro for everything! Sooo cheap, fresh and tastey!

German Delights!
Doris left me sweets in my room! Everyone knows the Kinder brand but i had never heard of Kinder Country. It is chocolate coated puffed wheat and milk. It is actually really nice as its not to sweet, and for me (not a chocolate lover) this was great! After i said i liked them she gave me many more which i had to decline in order to try all the other ones!
The long white sticks called 'Amicelli' are Italian sweets, essentially the same as chocolate fingers in Australia but in individual packets. They were very nice!
Finally the yellow label 'Pick Up' sweet is German and it was really nice. It was two milk arrowroot style biscuits with chocolate and caramel sandwiched in the middle! Yummm!
Breakfast in the Brinkmann family is the most important meal of the day. Every morning the table is set, and left like this until about lunch time. It has personalized engraved napkin rings, all the spreads and condiments left on a tray in the centre of the table, bread in a basket and then fresh coffee. It is the best! Its like being in a hotel every day haha! Typically for breakfast we have fresh bread with butter, nutella, mushroom paste or Spanish ham (cured ham similar to prosciutto). They did however have weetbix in case i wanted an 'Australian Breakfast' but i was more interested in the other options.
This is the mushroom paste! It was amazing! It freaked me out at first that it was in a similar tin to tuna, but after trying it, all my concerns were gone! You can also mix it with cream to make that pasta sauce i mentioned earlier if you cant get the nice Italian bottle stuff!
Finally, this is just a photo of the of the cute oil tray they have in their kitchen! I would really like one of these in my house when i eventually have my own place! I think it looks great! Doris makes all her own salad dressing etc so its great having them all so accessable!
Scrap my old posts! This is becoming Ashleigh Eats Europe!
I will hopefully document a lot of the food that i find in my travels here. So if you dont like food, probably tune out of this blog and only read the other travel one!
I have only had a small experience with food so far, but it has been good! Doris cooked a fantastic pasta for lunch on my first day in Osnabruck, it was a cream of fungi sauce, its just from a jar, made in Italy and you mix it with cooking cream, but it was fantastic, and not like flavours you get in Australia. I am going to try and find a picture of the bottle so hopefully once i open my cafe/deli i can import the product or something similar. The Brinkmann's neighbour/Italian Nonna also whipped out a fantastic homemade tomato sauce for the fresh pasta. It was amazing as well, however language barriers inhibited my attempt for a recipe haha. The starter for the same lunch was a carrot and potato soup, with mint leaves. It was so delicious and light, i had never thought of putting mint leaves with carrots so thats a great trick i will take away from Doris!
At the BBQ last night we had a mixture of chicken sausages (i didnt try these but they were the most popular), marinated chicken breasts and marinated pork. I do not eat much pork at home but this was delicious and i could have easily had seconds of it. I also tried a garlic cream (comes in a dip style container) and that was amazing and complimented every item of food on offer! I think i will need to seriously watch what i eat while in Europe or i will come back 10kgs heavier!
